Give our kids a better deal
Im Suosdey, National Election Committee Chairman.

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The National Election Committee (NEC) said Friday that more than 140,000 names would be removed from voter lists.

Quoting figures from commune chiefs, NEC chairman Im Suosdey said there were 619,630 new voters. At the same time,  141,467 voters who have died or moved to other places will have their names removed, he said.

Im Suosdey said Cambodia now has 18,942 voting stations, up from 18,107 stations in 2011.

The NEC chairman said the name list examination and registration period would last for 42 days until October 12. The first announcement of lists to let voters check their names will be from October 19 to 30.

Im Suosdey said the list as of December 31 would be used for next year's national election in July.
