PHNOM PENH, 2 August 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Ministry of Interior spokesman Khieu
Sopheak (pictured) said he was filing a complaint against police officer Chhem Chey
Rith for using his name to transport 147 pieces of luxury timber.
The driver of the truck carrying the timber was arrested in Porsen Chey district on Tuesday.
Sopheak
denied any involvement. "I am a normal citizen and subject to the law
like other citizens. If someone uses my name, it means I'm subject to
the law," he said.
Names of senior officials are often used in
connection with illegal activities, especially timber being transported
in water and fuel trucks as well as Red Cross and tourist vehicles.

who is what?
The Catch 22 playing at the theeater near you.
Khieu sopheak is the most crooked CPP officials. I think he was involved in kidnapping for ransom. About 10 years ago, Lon Phon, an MP from the opposition SRP, was kidnapped for $100,000 ransom. After the story made headlines around the world, Khieu Sopheak's wife came to the family and offered to let them borrow the money to pay the kidnappers. Well, why suddenly she came to offer the loan to the victim's family? For sure, she or Khieu Sopheak was involved or knew about the kidnapping.
