In Soklyda quietly returns home

PHNOM PENH, 19th August 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Khmer actress In Soklyda has quietly returned home after two years living abroad following an acid attack four years ago.

In May 2008, the Miss Tourism beauty pageant winner and her 36-year-old aunt Ya Soknim were doused with acid by two unidentified assailants.

In Soklyda was suspected of having a lesbian relationship with National Military Police Deputy Chief of Staff General Chea Ratha. Chea Ratha has since been sentenced to 18 years in prison and ordered to pay $100,000 in compensation to In Soklyda and her aunt, who died last year.

Angkor Thom magazine recently reported that the actress had been seen in front of a hair salon in Phnom Penh wearing jeans and a T-shirt. She was also spotted getting into a Lexus and driving away.
