Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday
insisted she has no plan to hold talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun
Sen on comcpeting interests and the two countries' overlapping
maritime boundaries during her visit to Phnom Penh on Friday.
She said she will be in Cambodia at the invitation of US Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton to deliver a speech to people in the business
sector about Thailand's desire to be the hub of communications in the
region, its readiness to become part of the Asean Economic Community
(AEC), and cooperation between the United States and Asean.
She will have talks with the Cambodian leader on bilateral issues to
tighten cooperation, she said. There will definitely be no talks about
the overlapping sea boundaries in the Gulf or the 2001 memorandum of
understanding.
The dispute over the Phreah Vihear temple will be handled by the
Defence Ministry to best protect the country's interests and
sovereignty, the prime minister said.
