BANGKOK, 26 July 2012 (Cambodia Herald) – The Cambodian and Thai governments have
agreed to offer a bachelor of Thai literature degree at the Royal
University of Phnom Penh from September.
Pin Sridurongkatum, of the Thailand International Development Corporation Agency, said the university previously offered only short courses in Thai.
Speaking to visiting Cambodian journalists, Pin said the Thai government was now teaching two Cambodian students Thai in Bangkok and would use them as Thai teaching professors in Cambodia.
Khmer literature has been studied at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok since 2010 and has so far attracted 47 students.

Santi Pakdeekham, assistant professor of Khmer, said the bachelor of Khmer literature degree aimed to improve cooperation between the two countries and prepare for ASEAN integration in 2015.
He said the teaching of Khmer in Thailand was complicated by a lack of Khmer-Thai and Thai-Khmer dictionaries.

Thai literature came from Khmer literature.
So did Thai culture and custom.
Thai should thank Khmers for that.
Siam changes Khmer's alphabet to theirs by using only bottom part of the letters.And Laos changes Siam's alphabet to theirs by changes very little,if you learn siam you will know what I am talking about,you can read both siam &Laos.khmers were original oldest one....I've learned these three languages I knew for many years.
