Beijing, July 28 (TruthDive): Few days after
announcing the disputed islands as the nation’s newest city, China has
gone further in its movement to claim the world’s most disputed waters
by appointing two senior military officers to head a military base, one
of its army and the other of its navy in the South China Sea.
On Friday, the state media reported, Senior Col. Cai Xihong was appointed as the commander of the Sansha military base and Senior Col. Liao Chaoyi was appointed as its political commissar. Sansha, a rough outpost with just 1,000 people, was officially declared the newest city of China on July 20 with a flag-hoisting ceremony telecasted live.
This move is China’s third largest military attention in a minor area after its positioning a military base on the border with India and the straits across Taiwan.
Yang Yujun, defence ministry’s spokesman said to China Daily that the forming of a new garrison was for guarding the city and disaster relief, among other functions. He added that a distinct maritime garrison under the Chinese navy was responsible for maritime defence and military combat, seeming to suggest that the Sansha military base would not have such responsibilities.
Even though, China says it is making moves within its rights, its moves have caused alarm bells in the region and beyond. On Thursday, the Chinese foreign ministry told that it is within China’s sovereign right to establish the city. The country says it owns much of the South China Sea, though the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei each claim portions of it.
China claims almost the entire South China Sea and its island groups, and its disputes sometimes burst into open conflict. Many on the islands are occupied by garrisons from the various claimants, sit within some of the world’s busiest commercial sea lanes, along with potential oil and gas deposits and rich fishing grounds.

Imagine this situation was in the old day (era no U.N) China will take every piece of island she wants, there is nothing Yuon,Philippine or anyone else can do with China. Now let get to my point, because U.N or U.S.watching closely on China moves on this disputed area (S.C.S) China
kindda afraid to be aggressived or at least feared the U.N or U.S.Back to Cambodia & Yiek cong.
Hun sen didn't have to be scared Yiek cong to the point that signed villages to Yiek cong.We have UN or US to back Cambodia up,if Yiek cong makes a stupid moves by using forces to steal that villages,Hun sen should knows that by now.
China will will destroyed first Philipine navy and her forces send to oppose PRC and made an example to others who had any ideas such as Vietnam. Second, Viets will fight back becaus Vietnamese are proud and tough peoples but at the end the mighty Vietnamese navy and ground forces will be destroyed.
U. S will make a lot of noises and convene U.N Security Councils meeting to condem PRC but NO major UN resolution because Russia and China and their allies will just vetoe it. World economy will take a big hit. Japan, U. S and China economies hit recession again. European Union split voice support to both war parties, mainly sided with U. S.
