South Korea is a country booming with excitement for young Cambodians, as K-pop music, fashion styles and movies saturate the Kingdom’s youth culture.

Now, many young Cambodians are interested in learning the language so that they have a chance at studying abroad or getting exciting new jobs in this fast-growing, wired nation.

On June 9 and 10, the country’s government held the Korean Education Fair at Diamond Island (Koh Pich) Exhibition Centre. It was the first of its kind to hit Cambodia.

The fair offered an array of information and opportunities to young Cambodians seeking study abroad opportunities in South Korea, and it was filled with hundreds of local university students.

Ha Tea Yun, from the National Institute for International Education, said, “The main purpose of the fair is to strengthen the friendship between Cambodia and South Korea, and provide great chances for Cambodian students with good ability to go and study abroad there.”

He added, “When students get this much knowledge about study abroad opportunities, they will inevitably go and bring back new skills to improve the development of Cambodia.”
