After questioning, the Kandal court decided to temporarily detain the activist.
In a statement, the party said the arrest was "political intimidation and a weakening of activists, especially Banteay Dek commune residents who voted for the Sam Rainsy Party."
Tith Sothea, deputy president of Press and Quick Reaction at the Office of Council of Ministers, said authorities were obliged to crack down on people who violated the law.
"The arrest of Sam Rainsy Party activist Meas Peng is law enforcement," he said. "The demand of the Sam Rainsy Party is wishful but they cannot escape the law."
Sam Rainsy Party lawyer Choung Chu Ngy said that Meas Peng should not have been detained as there was no formal decision by the judge.

You can say whatever you want because you sit on the laws. You hurt the deep feeling of innocent people throughout the country. You would see when they have enough like the dictatorship in Romania in early 1990s.
