Defence Minister Tea Banh chairs the 6th Asean Defence Ministers Meeting in Phnom Penh.
PHNOM PENH, 17th May 2012 (Cambodia Herald) –Cambodia's dispute with
Thailand over Preah Vihear temple won't be on the agenda of this month's
ASEAN defense ministers meeting unless there is an emergency, Defense
Minister Tea Banh said Thursday.
He said the dispute was already being solved step by step through bilateral, regional and international mechanisms.
Tea
Banh said the topic for the defense ministers meeting scheduled to
start on May 29 was "Promoting ASEAN Unity for Harmonization and
Security" and comprised eight points.
These include
implementing the original ideas for such meetings, ensuring achievements
in significant sectors, upgrading tasks related to the ASEAN
Political-Security Community Blueprint and boosting practical
cooperation.
Other topics are promoting cooperation
between ASEAN defense forces and security partners, adopting a concept
paper, supporting decisions of the recent ASEAN summit and highlighting
Cambodia's role in security cooperation.
