Hundreds of rice vehicles stuck as Thailand block exports [This is against free trade agreements, Cambodia should retaliate]

BANTEAY MENCHEY, 10 May 2012 (Cambodia Herald) –Hundreds of vehicles transporting rice have been stuck at the Thai border since Tuesday last week, sources said.

The sources said Thai provincial authorities and police were blocking Cambodian rice exports across the Ro Beang crossing in Ou Bei Jon commune in Ou Chrov district.

Ou Bei Jon commune council member Chu Sophorn said Thailand usually bought only small amounts of rice from Cambodia.

A senior Ou Chrov district official said rice exporters dealt only with border police and not district authorities.

Thailand did this many times, but Hun Sen did nothing. Cambodia imported a lot of goods from Thailand but still Thailand ban just very basic Khmer exports. Cambodia should ban or stop import from Thailand and turn to other countries instead.

Cambodia should stop trade with thailand and close the border crossing permanently. Thailand is more of a trouble than friend for cambodia and her people.
