PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Suk Sophea (pictured), who starred as Tum in the film "Tum Teav", may not be married but already has a one-year-old daughter with a Cambodian woman called Sarina who lives in Australia.

"My newborn daughter was born on March 17," he told Cambodia Express News (CEN), an affiliate of The Cambodia Herald, adding that she had been named Suk Susannaza.

"As for marriage, frankly speaking, we love each other without being married and our parents have recognized and accepted this. We've carefully decided that we'll get married when my daughter can hold a thong rorng," he said, referring to the traditional box used in wedding ceremonies.

When asked about his ex-lover Kheav Sokharavy, the actor said he did not wish to talk about the past. "I don’t want her and I feel uncomfortable with each other," he said.

Born in 1981, Suk Sophea grew up in Khva commune in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district as the only son of four children. His father Sok Thon is a former Dangkor district police officer and his mother is a vendor.
After completing a bachelor degree at the Royal University of Law and Economics, he joined the entertainment industry in 1999 through training at the Khmer International Club with an instructor named Hang Vannara.

Apart from doing karaoke movies, Suk Sophea competed in Apsara Television's "Man Universe" where he finished third in 2000-2001. He then co-starred as Neay Kheav in the drama series "Love Punishment" before working on "Tum Teav." His most recent drama series this year is "Hang Antak Snae."

During his 10-year acting career, Suk Sophea has performed in neighboring Asian countries and some European countries such as France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium as well as the United States and Australia.

Away from the entertainment industry, Suk Sophea has another career as head of the Kampot youth wing of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party. He also runs a restaurant called Spean Chamkar Daung near the former Spean Dek Bridge in Meanchey district.
