Bamboo Travel has cut £600 pp off its ‘Luxury Journey Down the Mekong’
trip from Cambodia to Vietnam, departing 25 October or 8 November 2012.
The 14-day trip commences with a 3-night stay at the newly renovated
Shinta Mani hotel, located in the heart of Siem Reap, the gateway to the
ancient Khmer empire, with 2 days touring the temples of Angkor – a
UNESCO World Heritage Site – before embarking on the 7-night cruise on
the luxurious river boat RV Marguerite.
Accommodation on the 46-room colonial-style boat is in an
air-conditioned stateroom (stateroom upgrades available from £150 pp).
Meals are served in the Mekong Restaurant, which combines French
cuisine with traditional Vietnamese/Cambodian cooking and afternoon tea
is served each day in the Saigon Lounge, accompanied by relaxing music.
The Marguerite also has a Panoramic Lounge, set at the front of the
vessel, from which to enjoy panoramic views of the Mekong River and
surrounding countryside.
The south-east Asian sunshine can be soaked up on the Sun Deck at the
top of the vessel, which also has a plunge pool for cooling off.
Highlights of the cruise include a visit to the wetlands centre at Lake
Tonle Sap, afternoon tour of Oudong, a visit to a weaving village,
guided tour of Phnom Penh, crossing the Vietnam border to Tan Chau, an
exploration of the Mekong Delta at Sa Dec, and Cai Be floating market.
The itinerary ends with two-nights in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)
including a private city tour.
The holiday – which must be booked before 30 April to qualify for the
£600 discount – costs from £2750 pp (two sharing) which includes
international flights with Eva Air, 5-nights' superior hotel
accommodation, 7-night Mekong Cruise on La Marguerite, daily breakfast,
full-board on the cruise including beer, wine & house spirits,
shared excursions on the cruise and private English-speaking guides in
Saigon & Siem Reap.
