Labor group to seek ILO help for [Chhouk Bandith's] victims of shootings

Chhouk Bandith (R) and his protector, Deputy PM Men Sam An (L).

Published: 20-Apr-12

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) – The Cambodian Labor Confederation says it plans to ask the International Labor Organization (ILO) for help to find justice for three workers shot during a protest in February.

Rong Chhun, the group's president, announced the plan after Svay Rieng Provincial Court charged former Bavet governor Chouk Bundith Thursday with causing unintentional injuries.

Prosecutor Hing Bunchea said there was no clear evidence that the former governor wanted to kill the female factory workers and that the charge followed questioning of the victims.

Chouk Bundith has already been removed from his position as governor of Bavet, a town on the Vietnam border better known for its casinos. The incident occurred during a protest at a factory producing shoes for German sportswear company Puma.

Mee KaAn niss (Men Am An) protects Chhouk Bandit. Why she protects him at the expense of the 3 victims.Men Sam An's husband, Pal Pat, a CPP senator, was known as a loose cannon and a perfect hooligan.

That's why Men Sam An defends Chhouk Bandit. SHAME!
