Visiting governor of China's Yunnan province Li Jiheng on Friday congratulated Cambodia on hosting the 20th ASEAN Summit and receiving the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao successfully.
The remarks were made during Li's meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace.
Li said the successful preparation and organization of these historic milestones would make Cambodia more prestigious in the international arena.
Li, who led a business delegation, said that his visit to Cambodia was to further enhance bilateral ties between the two nations, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
He added that a number of cooperation agreements in agriculture, cement manufacturing and hydropower were signed between the two sides during their visit on April 4-6.
Hun Sen said that the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao from March 30 to April 2 was a great honor for Cambodia and the two countries had vowed to double bilateral trade volume to 5 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 from 2.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2011.
The premier said the visit of Yunnan business delegation would help boost bilateral trade volume to meet the 5-billion-U.S. dollar target in the next five years.
He urged Yunnan investors to focus their investments on Cambodia's agricultural sector, especially rice processing industry.
