‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ kicks off in Cambodia [When will Cambodia opens an Expo in Saigon or Bangkok?]

The ‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’, to promote trade, services and tourism opened at the Mondial Trade Centre in Phnom Penh in Cambodia on March 28.

Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia; Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thanh Bien, Vietnam’s deputy minister of Industry and Trade; along with many high-ranking officials in Cambodia, attended the opening ceremony of the Expo.

Speaking at the ceremony, deputy chairwoman Hong said that ‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ is a key trade event targeted for the Cambodian market for the period 2010-15.

The Expo aims to create opportunities for businesses to interact and explore possibilities of joint partnerships.

The five-day ‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ is being organised by the HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre with support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the People’s Committee of HCMC and the Ministry of Commerce in Cambodia.

More than 150 Vietnamese companies have displayed their products in 250 booths.

Vietnamese traders have displayed products like processed foods, plastic goods, agricultural products, furniture, electrical appliances and construction materials.

Apart from the product display stalls, the event will exhibit and highlight the economic, political and social achievements of Vietnam and Cambodia and the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre will also organise market surveys for the financial, real estate, construction and retail sectors for Vietnamese businesses seeking to understand the Cambodian market.

The Expo will be on till April 1.

Vietnamese enterprises attend trade fair in Cambodia

HA NOI – HCM City International Furniture and Handicrafts Fair (HCM City Expo 2012) was kicked off yesterday in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC).

Entitled "Vietnamese products: More choices – Stronger Trust," the fair aims to enhance business partnerships and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

The fair, which is divided into three main sections for meetings, commodities and services, has attracted more than 150 Vietnamese enterprises and 250 booths featuring various commodities and services such as processed food, interior decorations, garments, cosmetics, advertising, construction design, software, and others.

Speaking at the event, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Som Ol stressed that the fair provided a good opportunity for Cambodian consumers and businesses to gain valuable experience and seek new partners.

She added that with the aim of economic development and global integration, Cambodia would create the best possible conditions to attract foreign investment, especially regional investment from countries such as Viet Nam.

The fair will also feature programmes on market research and trade promotion, cultural exchange performances at night and gifts for the poor on the occasion of the upcoming Chaul Chnam Thmey (New Year Festival).

About 150 Vietnamese enterprises and companies are currently operating in Cambodia. – VNS
