PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) -Cambodia opposes any economic sanctions against Myanmar, Information Minister Khieu Kanharith said Wednesday.

"Economic sanctions against Myanmar affect the people," he told reporters after a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Myanmar President Thein Sein who arrived earlier Wednesday.

The minister added that Thein Sein told Hun Sen that Myanmar would like ASEAN countries to send observers to monitor elections in Myanmar to be held on April 1.

Myanmar has asked the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which Cambodia now chairs, to urge the international community to remove sanctions against the country.

- What will observing do, if changes are not in affect? Will NEC dares to give the opposition party fair and free election.

eg. CPP uses national budget to promote campaign. SRP hardly have a dime. COMFREL also found that many of the CPP ministeries and associates have been buying votes using powers and threats as well as states property to promote unlawful acts.

Will this observers dares to promote and enforce such regulation, everyone knows CPP owns Cambodia and SRP are outlaws with no power or authority.
