British company buys North American rights to Australian film shot in Cambodia

Published: 28-Jan-12

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald)- British independent film and television distributor Entertainment One Ltd has acquired for an undisclosed sum the North American distribution rights to Wish You Were Here, the latest international film to be shot in Cambodia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The industry magazine's website said the Australian film was screened at the independent Sundance Film Festival last week and was expected to be released in theaters in the United States in autumn this year. Entertainment One will also release the film in Australia and New Zealand in 2012, the report said.

Wish You Were Here, the directorial debut of Kieran Darcy Smith, is about two Australian couples who go on a Cambodian holiday that ends in tragedy when one of the group mysteriously disappears.

The Sundance festival in Park City, Utah, opened on January 19 this year and is scheduled to end on Sunday.
