Bangkok (DPA)- Three Thai soldiers were killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday when an anti-tank mine exploded during a mine clearing operation near the border with Cambodia, media reported.

The accident happened in Khlong Hat district of Sa Kaeo province, 560 kilometres east of Bangkok, according to the Bangkok Post website.

The soldiers were part of an eight-member team clearing unexploded munitions in the border region, where Cambodian factions fought a civil war in the 1980s and 1990s.

The blast reportedly killed the team leader and two other troops instantly.

The wounded soldier was admitted to Surasinghanart military hospital in the Aranyaprathet district.

The Chinese-made anti-tank mine was one of many planted along the border during the fighting between the Cambodian factions.

If these were mines that were left by the Cambodian war then the territory must be Cambodian territory because Cambodian soldiers can't plant mines inside Thai territory. In the 1980s, Cambodia laid a lot mines during the civil war, but just inside Cambodian territory only. After the Cambodian resistance fighters dropped their weapons in early 1990s and retreated into the interior of Cambodia, the Thai army moved in to occupy Cambodian lands a long the border.

Well said 9:19 AM!
The Thais are shifty and hypocrit, even though they're anti-communist but they've assisted the Khmer Rough during the civil war to take advatage over the situation, despite being a signatory of the Paris Accord.

If they were killed by land mine,it must be at lease 4-5 Km inside Cambodia. Normally the resistant fighters laid their land mine on their defend-line far from their base.
Question must be ask how dare they can come and clearing land mind inside Cambodia?
How and why the Cambodian defend minister did not react to this invasion?
Bangkok's and Hanoi's military never stop encroaching Cambodia, since Hun Sen and his small group of gangsters,Hanoi puppet, have been in power.

Our entire history for thousand of years of our civilised race is being dissolved slowly by the Hanoi's mechanism in front our naked eyes.

Do you know that Tea Banh was Vietcong?

Do you know that Angkor Wat is run by Hanoi's agent Sok Ang?

We got to break free from Hanoi's mechanism for our young ones.

Since 1979 up to now there are at lease 5-6 millions Viet have illegally settled in Cambodia, they have right to vote and none of them have been forced to go back to Vietnam?.This case is very serous matter for our country for the future, why no one care or want to talk about it?

Are we heading in the right future for our young ones, please look at your children faces and ask question, will they have a country to live? or they have to live like our brothers and sisters in Kampuchea Krom?.

Nation first,party second.

The 5-6 millions Viet settling in Cambodia troubled me greatly. I live outside the country so I can't verify. With so many of them, I imagine that you can easily spot 1 out of 4 people on the street as these gooks. I see videos from the country, and I don't see that. So are we just coming up the number by logical reasoning? Maybe we've had more people than were counted in the 70s and 80s. I mean how could we have the resources to conduct an accurate census back then?
