Three Thai soldiers were killed and one seriously wounded when an anti-tank mine exploded during a mine-clearing operation along the border with Cambodia on Tuesday, a news report said.

The soldiers were part of an 8-member mine-clearning team of the Burapa Task Force.

The accident occurred near Ban Khao Din in tambon Khlong Hat of Sa Kaeo's Khlong Hat district.

The three soldiers killed were Lt Krisna Yapila, the team leader, Mstr-Sgt Kong-anan Boon-aram, and Sgt Pichit Wongbo.

The wounded man, Sgt-Maj Sithichai Wongcharoen, was admitted to Surasinghanart military hospital in Aranyaprathet district.

The task force is commanded by Maj-Gen Theppong Tipayachan.

The Chinese-made anti-tank mine is one of many planted along the border during the fighting between the warring factions in Cambodia many years ago.

The Thais are arrogant. What were they doing inside Cambodian territory?

If they asked the Cambodian mine experts, these lives would have been saved. Cambodia are the world expert in mine clearing. Our teams are sent throughout the world to help clear mines.

Bad karma. When you attacked and violated our border, bad things will come to Thailand. It's not the first nor will it be the last. A few months ago, numerous helicopters when down in flames. Fighter jets crashed for no good reasons. A spy plan was down inside Cambodian territory.

If these were mines that were left by the Cambodian war then the territory must be Cambodian territory because Cambodian soldiers can't plant mines inside Thai territory. In the 1980s, Cambodia laid a lot mines during the civil war, but just inside Cambodian territory only. After the Cambodian resistance fighters dropped their weapons in early 1990s and retreated into the interior of Cambodia, the Thai army moved in to occupy Cambodian lands a long the border.
