AKP Phnom Penh, December 16, 2011 –The Cambodian trade in the first ten months of this year rose to US$9.1 billion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Keat Chhon (pictured) said yesterday.
The figure shows an increase by 25.3 percent if compared to the same period last year, he said at the opening ceremony of the 6th Cambodia Import-Export and One Province One Product (OPOP) Exhibition plus ACMECS 2011 at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center.
From January to October 2011, the volume of Cambodia’s import reached US$5.16 billion, while that of the export US$4.01 billion, he added.
For the whole year 2010, the Cambodian trade volume was amounted to US$12 billion, of which US$6.8 billion import and US$5.2 billion export, while that of 2009 was only US$10.1 billion, he said.
With the growth Cambodia expects to achieve the millennium development goals in poverty reduction to 19.5 percent by 2015 from 47 percent in 1993, he said.
