[Thai] Troops to remain near Preah Vihear [Thailand defying the ICJ?]

Hundreds of Thai troops were sent to occupy the Preah Vihear surrounding area on 15th Jluy 2008, one week after Unesco inscribed Preah Vihear temple as a world-listed heritage site.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says her government will keep its troops positioned in the disputed area near the Preah Vihear temple and protect Thailand's national sovereignty along the border.

Ms Yingluck was speaking after talks on the territorial dispute with Cambodia around Preah Vihear with Defence Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapa, army commander-in-chief Prayuth Chan-ocha and Atchaporn Jaruchinda, secretary-general of the Council of State.

Ms Yingluck said a case had been prepared for presentation to the International Court of Justice, which is hearing a territorial complaint about the land in the vicinity of Preah Vihear from Cambodia. The court 1962 gave Cambodia jurisdiction over the ancient Khmer temple, but the ruling was vague on the immediately adjacent, disputed area.

The International Court of Justice recently said the disputed area should be demilitarised pending a settlement, but Ms Yingluck said her government had not withdrawn Thai soldiers from a disputed area.

Love Khmer Hate Siem said...

I hate to say it. But I say it again. I told you so. The Cambodian government (CCP) were too quickly popping the champagne bottle and celebrated when Ms. Yingluck and her red shirt party won the election. A little did they know, the Siems are one in the same. Whether they're red shirts, blue shirts or red shirts. They will try to protect what they believe is their interests. That's why you don't fully trust the Siem or Viets, no matter how nice they are to you. That goes for every level including personal.

Thailand don't give a damn about ICJ's demand...

Yingluck and her Government must be out of their mind to defy ICJ rules. No members of the UN to object the ICJ rules and not Thailand. I'm not sure if this report is accurate. Daryl if USA.

I said many times that it doesn't matter who is in the government, all Thais will work for the interests of their country regardless of whether it is a stolen land or their own land. The ones who is really in control of Thailand are the Thai army and the Thai king. However,, even if Yingluck is really controlling the power in Thailand, she will still do the same because it benefits Thailand as a whole. So Thais are still Thais and thieves are still thieves.

This is a sad fate for Cambodia. Who either pick Siam or Youn. We can't have it both way. China is far away. Heck, who are those Khmer Rouge? All Chinese descendants, can't trust them either.

The difference between the Youns and the Thai? No difference. All thieves. Maybe one, the Youns take your land you don't even know, bloodless. The Thai just killed 3 hungry fathers who crossed the border to find something to feed their families.

When Siem wanted to fight Khmer, they did it openly and loudly, while Youn did in a very sneaky and deceiving ways. It's the silent and deliberate tactics that are harder to fight. One thing these 2 enemies have in common is their cheating way. They are theives in character, therefore; that is their nature. They always applied deception in warfare and that is how they usually win over Khmer. Throughout history between Siem and Youn, when fighting face to face, Khmer tend to beat them in the battles. However; when they begin to use their cheating tactics, they usually win the war. This is how Khmer lost to Siem and Youn. Honorable fighting is not the way these two enemies have fought. Khmer must keep this in mind when dealing with these two enemies.
