Eighteen students from Nailsea School who are going on a World Challenge to south east Asia next year need to raise more than £60,000 towards the trip.

The group of Year 12 and Year 13 students will be travelling to Thailand and Cambodia for a three week cultural and educational visit during the summer of 2012.

While in Cambodia they will visit many historic sites including Angkor Wat. the 12th century temple. and do some voluntary work with young Cambodians.

In Thailand they will be building their own shelter and sleeping in hammocks during a trek through the rainforest.

But before they go the students need to raise a grand total of £60,210 towards the three week trip of a lifetime.

Already they have been busy with fundraising activities like car washing, packing bags at Cadbury Garden Centre, staged a Year 6 disco, marketing candy canes and cakes for Christmas, as well as selling refreshments at school events.

This month students will be collecting unwanted clothes which are bought by a private company – Bag2School – and distributed to lesser developed countries.

Anyone who would like to help them raise money is asked to bring their unwanted bagged clothing to Nailsea School reception from Monday to Thursday, November 21-24.

Alternatively contributors can take their clothing to the World Challenge stall at Nailsea School's shopping extravaganza on Thursday, November 24, from 6.30-9pm.

Students will also be bagging groceries for day time shoppers at Waitrose, Nailsea, on Saturday, November 26.
