Save Prey Lang: Save Our Lives
Prey Lang – It’s Our Forest Too!
Right now, an estimated 700 Prey Lang community network members, from all four Prey Lang provinces, are mobilizing to “occupy” the core zone of Prey Lang. As Cambodian citizens, they are asserting their rights to protect this forest by fanning out across the forest on foot to discourage forest crimes and to challenge concessionaires.
Beginning since 3 November and continuing until 14 November, dozens of forest patrols will peacefully confront illegal loggers, poachers, and migrants, explaining to them the value of the forest and inviting them to change their ways and join the Network in protecting the forest. They also plan a vigil at the CRCK property later in campaign. Below are the tentative activities:

02-07 Nov | Small group of Prey Lang Communtiy Network members have departured from their respective provinces to the “O Chrok” the heart of Prey Lang area in Sandan district, Kampongthom. |
08-10 Nov | The communities will campaign for forest patrols, peacefully confront illegal loggers, poachers, and migrants within the area of “O Chrok” which now very strong forest crimes there |
11-13 Nov | Joint protest at the site of the CRCK company |
14 Nov | Public Forum (The communities will leave for public forum on afternoon of 13 Nov) |
Therefore with above information, on behalf of the Prey Lang Community Network, we would like to invite you the local and international media representatives of newspaper, radio, TV and representatives of both local and international organizations to take part in and cover this community event accordingly.
What does the Prey Lang Community Network want the Government to Do?
· Halt all new concessions and suspend all existing logging and mining concessions in the greater Prey Lang area. Enforce the law to stop illegal clearing and cutting immediately.
· Confer Prey Lang with protected status and enforce its protection.
· Regenerate already cleared areas of the forest
· Commit to sustainably managing the forest in cooperation with the Prey Lang Community Network.
