Phnom Penh - Amnesty International called on Cambodia's government Thursday to end 'a wave of forced evictions' as it released a report highlighting the impact land grabbing has on women.
Its report was published two days after community land rights activist Chea Dara, 33, committed suicide in Phnom Penh, reportedly after authorities excluded her family from receiving land in compensation for its forced eviction in Phnom Penh.
Donna Guest, Amnesty International's deputy director for the Asia-Pacific, called on authorities to end forced evictions, 'which contravene international human rights treaties and tear families apart.'
