On behalf of the NGO Forum on Cambodia and the cooperation with International River (IR), I would like to call for your support on the Xayaburi Dam Petition which calling on the Prime Ministers of Laos and Thailand to cancel plans to build the Xayaburi Dam and consider the 10 year deferment on any dam construction on the Mekong Mainstream as the recommendation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) which released by Mekong River Commission (MRC).

This petition will be sent before the MRC Council Meeting which was planned to be taken place from December 7-9th in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia in order to declare that people in the Mekong Region as well as worldwide doesn’t support with this proposed dam on the Mekong Mainstream “Xayaburi” as it could bring negative impacts on environment, social, and economic system in the Lower Mekong Countries as well as the changing of the ecological system of the Mekong River which is the Mother River of the Lower Mekong Countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Lao.
