The opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) has just released a statement that at 2pm today, 7th October, the party Permanent Committee has met and decided to expel one parliamentarian, one senator and one councillor and suspended 4 other senior officials from the party, citing inactivity and for having vague political stance.
The expelled parliamentarians are Mr. Van Sivoeun, a senator from Kampong Cham constituency, and Mr. Tok Vanchan, an MP from Takeo. Mr. Hok Ly Hak, a commune councillor was also expelled and 4 others were cautioned and suspended for having a vague political stance, meaning they are about to defect to other parties.
The expulsion of these SRP senior officials from the party was done a few days before about 10 senior party officials plan to defect to the Human Rights Party on 11th October.
