APPEAL TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY FOR EMERGENCY AID FOR VICTIMS OF FLOODING IN CAMBODIA
In my capacity as an elected representative of the Khmer people I anguishly appeal to the international community, especially the International Red Cross, all humanitarian and charitable organizations as well as friendly governments, to urgently provide emergency relief to victims of ongoing flooding in Cambodia.
Over the last few weeks, the floods in Cambodia’s portion of the Mekong River have caused the death of at least 141 people while affecting the life of over 170,000 people. Over 130,000 homes have been inundated causing serious damages to the people’s properties and means of subsistence.
Some 270,000 hectares of rice paddies representing 10 percent of the country’s total rice crop have been affected with more than 60,000 hectares already declared completely lost. For millions of people in a poor agricultural country who usually have difficulty making ends
meet, this will translate into food shortage in the very near future.
Thousands of evacuated families need emergency aid such as food, shelter, drinking water and sanitation, while those stuck in flooded homes mostly require food supplies.
I profoundly thank all people, all organizations and all nations for their solidarity, their generosity and their compassion for the Cambodian people in these trying times.

I was there to witness with my own eyes. about 75% of the country is flood and there is nothing from the government to help those poor Cambodia that living in the shack/straw houses in the country side. They sit in their house looking daze in their eyes while water rose underneath the straw house nearly drowning their families already. 80% of the people still living without toilet system, clean water etc. The government used helicopter to uplift tourist from Prasat Bonteay Srey because it is priority. The road toward Seap Reap flood, and the seap town is flood. The look in farmer eyes, they don't know what food to eat tomorrow or what water to drink. Trashes, sewage, contaminated floating all over the country. I suspected that Cambodia will face another disease that might wipe out half of the population after the flood due to senitation issues. Everybody is fending for themselve, noone there to help them. I didn't see any fucking red cross or other world organization like the NGO claimed to help Cambodian either. Seam Reap redcross buiding is flooded. This is the reality my fellow Cambodian American. The sad part, everything doesnt run by Cambodian but foriegner including eonomic, tourist industries. For example, the Palace, Cambodia is the security guard and in charge of the entrance and care for the garden, the tour guide is Vietnamese and teach the Khmer history is Vietnamese, etc. They know how big Khmer land and how much they took and they told the tourist and proud to be the theft of Khmer. Prasat Ankor, khmer in charge of tending the garden and cleaning the street, Vietnamese doing the tour guide and telling the Khmer history. Who own Cambodia? Sam Rainsy is the only person that care but people are blind to accuse him this and that.
