Man arrested for smuggling motorcycles across Cambodia[-Vietnam] border

The Saigon News

Police in Thu Dau Mot town of Binh Duong Province arrested 42-year-old Nguyen Tan Hien on October 12 for smuggling stolen vehicles across the border to sell in the black market in Cambodia.

Hien was arrested while driving a smuggled motorcycle across the Vietnam-Cambodia border. When police arrested him, he tried to bribe his way out with VND20 million, which the police refused to take and instead handed him to the investigating team.

Once taken to the Thu Dau Mot police station, Hien admitted that he was driving the motorcycle across the border to sell in the black market in Cambodia. He disclosed that each month he was selling about 10 smuggled motorcycles in Cambodia.

Theft of vehicles is high at port and border areas because smugglers can easily ship or drive vehicles across borders and sell them in the black market in countries like Cambodia and Laos.
