CITA World Teachers Day Celebration

We have been asked to share the information below with you all about World Teacher's Day 5th October.

Everyone in Cambodia believes in the power of education to help people out of poverty.
And the key to a good education are good teachers. Learn more by reading below and contacting Cambodian Independent Teachers Union (CITA).

RE: CITA World Teachers Day Celebration
Dear Civil Society Organisations,

As you are aware, the 5th of October will mark, World Teachers’ Day 2011. As part of our planned activities to mark this day the Cambodian Independent Teachers’ Association (CITA), the largest teachers’ organisation in Cambodia will organise a celebration in Phnom Penh for teachers, students, parents and all those who support the development and reform of education in Cambodia.

The celebratory event will start at 7.30am on the Wednesday the 5th October and will take place in Freedom Park in Phnom Penh. There will also be a keynote address to officially launch the ‘Give Teachers A Voice’ campaign. This campaign will centre on the need for improved participation of front-line teachers in the development and implementation of education policies and reforms through their representative organisations. The importance of social dialogue where teachers, government and community can participant as equals is key component embedding education reforms and improving the quality of education at the institutional and front-line levels this is the core objective of the CITA.
We wish to invite you to attend this World Teachers' Day celebrations along with teachers from all over Cambodia. We also wish to acknowledge the support given for this event by the ILO-WEP, American Federation of Teachers' (AFT) and Association of Teachers' & Lectures (ATL).
