Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Friday posted a message on her Facebook page, saying Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to hold formal and open talks about their disputed maritime area and that Prime Minister Hun Sen has promised to aid the two jailed yellow-shirt supporters, Veera Somkwamkid and Ratree Pipatanapaiboon.

"Following the visit to Cambodia yesterday, a new era for Thai-Cambodian relations has begun and this relationship will the foundation for development and cooperation for the benefit of the people from the two countries.

"We will not let the lingering dispute affect our relationship in the big picture and we'll work together to solve our problems peacefully through existing mechanisms such as JC, JBC, GBC and RBC. We'll also promote communication channels in all levels," says Ms Yingluck's Facebook message.

On the disputed maritime area in the Gulf of Thailand, both sides have agreed that they will discuss it formally and openly. The Thai government must work within the constitution and it will have to develop a negotiation framework before talks can officially begin, she said.

On economic cooperation, the two countries have agreed to use bilateral mechanisms such as the Joint Commission and the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) to boost trade and investment, particularly along the Thai-Cambodian border.

A new border checkpoint will also be opened between Thailand's Aranyaprathet district and Cambodia's Stung Bot to support logistics expansion.

As for Veera and Ratree, who were imprisoned in Cambodia for spying, and illegal entry, in December last year, the Cambodian premier had been asked to consider asking for a royal pardon for them.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has agreed to aid the two in accordance with Cambodian laws and conditions, but the royal pardon will definitely be sought, the message says.

I wonder what she think deep down inside about PM Hun Sen. She probably never willing to admit. She might want some of this black tiger.
