Khmer people protest against Vietnamese boats dredging in Cambodian rivers

Representatives of people in 4 communes in Romeas Hek district in Svay Rieng province have on Monday staged a protest in front of the Svay Rieng Provincial Town Hall against dredging by Vietnamese boats, which were dredging days and nights in Cambodian rivers, causing the river banks to collapse and damaging their farmlands and rice fields.

One villagers' representative said dredging by Vietnamese boats in Teuk Vill River a long the Khmer-Vietnamese border have caused the river banks to collapse, affecting farmlands and rice fields of 289 Khmer families. They ask the authority to intervene immediately to stop the dredging by these Vietnamese people.

The 289 Khmer families are living in Koki commune, Dong commune, Ampil commune and Kampong trolach commune in Romeas Hek district in Svay Rieng province.

Vietnamese boats not only dredge sands in Cambodian rivers along the Khmer-Vietnamese border, but dredge sands in Cambodian rivers as far as Tatai river in Koh Kong province.

តំណាង​ពលរដ្ឋ​ម្នាក់​បាន​និយាយ​ថា អាជីវកម្ម​បូម​ខ្សាច់​របស់​ជន​ជាតិ​យួន​នៅ​ទន្លេ​ទឹកវិល​ជាប់​ព្រំដែន​កម្ពុជា-វៀតណាម បាន​បណ្តាល​ឲ្យ​បាក់​ច្រាំង​ទន្លេ ដែល​វា​ធ្វើ​ឲ្យ​ប៉ះពាល់​ដល់​ដី​ពលរដ្ឋ​នៅ​តាម​ដង​ទន្លេ​នោះ​ជាង​២៨៩​គ្រួសារ។ ដូច្នេះ​ពួក​គាត់​សុំ​ឲ្យ​សាលា​ខេត្ត​ធ្វើ​អន្តរាគមន៍​បញ្ឈប់​សកម្ម​ភាព​របស់​ជន​ជាតិ​យួន​ទាំង​នោះ​ជា​បន្ទាន់។

ពលរដ្ឋ​ទាំង​២៨៩​គ្រួសារ​នោះ​រស់​នៅ​ក្នុង​ឃុំគគីរ ឃុំ​ដូង ឃុំ​អំពិល និង​ឃុំ​កំពង់ត្រឡាច នៃ​ស្រុក​រមាស​ហែក ខេត្ត​ស្វាយរៀង៕

The Vietnamese usually hide the Guns under those sands, when they are transports a lot of guns that goes into their enemies zones.
