Re: Kem Sokha claimed he was threatened
The Human Rights Party H(RP) is not the party that was created by PM Hun Sen to destroy other democracy lovers. Khem Sokha is telling the truth. This group is for real. I don't belong to this group or work for HRP. However, I can assess from its leadership. Son Soubert is the name that can be trusted. He has principles and stands behind Khmer people. Son Soubert's father, Son Sann, fought for Khmers until his last breath and he will never let his father's spirit down. Those of you who have doubt about this party, should not have any doubt any longer. The question is, can the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) or is SRP willing to merge into one party for the upcoming election? The HRP alone cannot defeat CPP. The party is too strong for any one party to compete. I would love to see debate on policy between SRP, HRP and CPP in the future.

I agree with the comment above. Many analyses speculated that the HRP was a party that was created to destroy the SRP. Many speculated that PM Hun Sen had created the party and making a deal behind close door with party leader Khem Sokha. I doubt that any of those speculations is true. As a matter of fact, I think the HRP is a threat to both SRP and CPP. I have listened to the so-called tape leaked by PM Hun Sen. I don't belongs to HRP or gaining any browny point by writing good comment about the party, but I like to help clear out any misunderstandings. Sometimes I wonder if PM Hun Sen had created HRP to destroy SRP, why would he leaked the information? What was the purpose to leak the information? Who would benefit from it? Why HRP is a threat to CPP if it only won 3 seats in the parliament. Dont forget, PM Hun Sen is a natural born political genius. He knows competitor when he sees one and he can predicted the outcome of political leaders. Opposition probably disagree with me 100% that PM Hun Sen is a genius when it comes to political. Let face it, he was in power for over 30 years is no coincident. How many leaders can hold on to power that long especially in Cambodia. King Sihanouk cannot match PM Hun Sen record in power. We are talking about the king, supposedly god reincarnated as human form according to ancient belief. Why did I think HRP is a potential and possibly threat to CPP? Let looks at the leadership of this party. The two distinctive figures are Son Soubert and Pen Sovann. Many thought Pen Sovann is washed up but I doubt it is true. This man was a Prime Minister before PM Hun Sen and schooled by the Vietnamese. Technically his skills are compatible with PM Hun Sen or more with his western education. Son Soubert, he dedicated his entire life for the Khmer causes. He refused to be married rather use all his money and salary he earned to raise over 300 orphanage children. His father, every body knows Somdech Son Sann. Former Prime Minister Son Sann, who dedicated his entire life for Khmer causes. Son Soubert will not shame his father name or sell his reputation either. These two figure heads leader gave credibility to the HRP parties and other leaders in the high ranking. Why would they join HRP instead of SRP. Son Soubert and former Sen. Thach Setha are very close with each other to fight for Khmer causes. They used to support SRP in the past but the evidence is very clear where they are standing. Thach Setha is very close to Son Chhay and other leaders within SRP. It is interesting to see many of them are supporting HRP. Do you really think PM Hun Sen is afraid of SRP? I dont think so. The real threat is HRP, if you look at it closely. The position that Khem Sokha took to change leadership through to the election is the correct choice while Sam Rainsy is taking a more radical approach. People need to ask this question: why has CPP released the tape if HRP is working for PM Hun Sen? Why would you want to expos your undercover? It is less likely that HRP is working for CPP. Rather, it is a real threat to CPP. The real question is: could HRP beat CPP in this election? I strongly doubt it, but HRP will become stronger day by day? Don't forget PM Hun Sen is not an ordinary politician like the SRP claimed or name calling him. SRP doesn't know how smart PM Hun Sen is but Khem Sokha knows how crafty the CPP political machine is. Watch out the next election, you will see HRP gaining it support more and more.

I have met and personally know Mr. Kem Sokha thro mutual friends and I can tell you, this guy is not legit. He is running on the same platform as SRP. Many people from the start question his purpose of creating another opposition party. He should have just join the SRP instead of creating his own party. We all know that you can`t win when you have so many party running on the same promise. He should of bite the bullet and join with the SRP. They would have become a powerful force against the CPP.
P.S
I am not affiliated with SRP or HRP. But I have friends who are members of either. I like to be independent.
Your assessment is completely wrong. I know these people history and there is no way that they will sell themselve out. Do you think Pen Sovann will bow his head to PM Hun Sen? Do you think Son Soubert willing to ruin his father repuation? These are two top leaders that love thier country very much. No way, No how. I know their character like the back of my hand. People got them all wrong. PM Hun Sen is very smart and this is what he wanted the public to do. He don't want the public to trust HRP. PM Hun Sen knows SRP moto already; it is much easier to deal with SRP. However HRP is new, therefore it is unpredictable especially given the former Prime Minister is part of the leadership team. You don't know what they got for PM Hun Sen. Sadly Khmer accused the wrong person. This is the old trick in the book. Created smoke screen so that opposition dont trust each other.
I agree with Warrior Blood; I don't think Son Soubert and Pen Sovann selling their name either. I think PM Hun Sen wanted other not trust HRP. PM Hun Sen wanted oppositions fighting each other; he can sit back enjoy watching oppositions hurting each other. It a win win strategy.
This one is a knock out by Prime Minister Hun Sen, who able to manipulate the match before the fight ever begins. He can make opposition parties disunite. Even KI media believes HRP is part of CPP. I’m not going to believe what DAP report either, which deliberately spread out the untrue. When I heard the news from DAP that HRP is associating with CPP, I don’t buy the story and I have no doubt it was a game PM Hun Sen was playing to break up opposition parties. I have to give PM Hun Sen credit for it. It is a good move and it work very well. He can fool a lot of people.
