ARTWORK will go under the hammer on Friday (August 26) to raise funds for schools in Cambodia.

Tintern Schools in Ringwood East is hosting an auction night for the Oaktree Foundation, a youth-run organisation that works to reduce poverty. Local artists, as well as teachers and students, have donated 19 works to the art auction.

There will also be a silent auction, raffle, kids’ corner, minigolf, food, wine and free ice cream on arrival.

The school’s Oaktree co-captain, Ashley Mallett, said an added drawcard on the night would be former Tintern Schools student Dani Venn, who was a contestant on TV’s MasterChef.

“She’s speaking on the night and will also be signing aprons that we will be selling,” the year 11 student said.

The students aim to raise about $7000 from the event.

Ashley said the money would help to regenerate three schools in the Kampong Cham Province.

“The money will go towards rebuilding infrastructure, giving scholarships to children, especially females, to ensure they can go to school and training local people to become teachers,” she said.

The event will run from 6-9pm at 90 Alexandra Rd, Ringwood.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 concession at the door.
