Thai authority have closed a number of border crossings with Cambodia, notably border crossing in O'Chrov and Svay Check districts in Banteay Meanchey province due to military tension in the area.

Cambodian authority said two border crossings in Chok Chey village and O'Bei Choan in O'Chrov district and in Svay Chek district border crossings in Dombon Pram and Chamkar Kor villages were also closed. These border crossings are opposite Thailand's Kork Tyoung and Tapraya districts in Sakeo province and have been closed since 25th June.

However, a border crossing in Boeng Trokuon village, not far from the area, have not been closed.

In the past few days, there are reports that Thai troops had been staging military drills in the area, causing panic among local Cambodian population which forced some villages to flee from the area.

There are also reports from Malai district in Battambang province that border trades in the area have dropped significantly due to fears of border clashes. Cambodian traders said on 29th June that many Cambodian traders and consumers had stopped placing orders for Thai products, causing a substantial drops in imports from Thailand through the border crossings in the Malai area.
