Karma had cought up with Vietnam

Anonymous said...

What goes around will come back around. This is Karma at work. For many centuries Dai Viet, Annam, and Vietnam (all in the same) expanded its territory by encroachments, invasion, and conquering of Champa. After Champa had become part of Vietnam after the conquer, Annam (Vietnam) made its next move into Khmer (Cambodia) territory in the early 1700's. In 1949, Vietnam took Khmer Krom (south Vietnam) territory through deceiving the colonial French.

Vietnam is crying about China encroachments into its territory, starting at the sea and will eventually work into Vietnam's territory coming from the north. Now, Vietnam begins to know what it's like to have a bigger thief stealing from a smaller thief.

As far as Cambodia is concerned, Hun Sen supports China's policy of claiming the South China Sea. So, this should say something about who has more influence over Hun Sen. Obviously China, not necessarily Hanio, Vietnam. What should be very important to Cambodia is the loss of Khmer Krom territory. Cambodia should support Khmer Krom to make them a pain in the ass for Vietnam when the opportunity is right. At the same time, the ethnic Chams living in Cambodia should be given a dream and motivation to reclaim the loss of their homeland in central Vietnam. This way, Vietnam will be dealing with 3 enemies at one time. This should be very interesting.

I don't see anything wrong in saying anything about this event. As a citizen, we have the right to say anything without fear if we are not doing anything wrong against the law. However, as a government Cambodia should walk the fine line and don't take side because China is a good friend of Cambodia and Vietnam is a neighbor forever whether we like it or not. If we take Vietnam's side, we will upset China and they will not help us in the future, but if we take side with China we will upset Vietnam and this is very dangerous because Vietnam might take revenge on us and encroach our border more and we are not able to stop them because we are weak. So, taking a neutral position is the right thing to do.

I understand it is freedom of speech but sometime you touch the nerve that should be secret. Do you tell all your plan to the world? Think about what I said.

Here we go again, weak Cambodia will be over run if she upset Vietnam because we're taking side with China. If that is the case, wouldn't you think China will also get upset and take revenge on Vietnam? Didn't Vietnam took revenge on Cambodia in 1979 by invading and accupying until late 1990, anyway? Of course Vietnam has its own beautiful reason behind it. If Cambodia had to take side, between Vietnam and China, China would be Cambodia best choice. Who the heck is Vietnam? Why should Cambodia so concern about it? I think Cambodia will be just find without Vietnam. Vietnam is like a bloodsucking leech that always want to attach itself to Cambodia. Everytime it does that, Cambodia always lose land.

10:59 PM, Yes in 1979 Vietnam invaded and occupied Cambodia for 10 years. China invaded northern part of Vietnam to help Cambodia, but withdrew 2 months later. Vietnam had encroached many parts of Cambodian border, did China do anything? Don't always depend on outsiders to help us. We must depend on ourselves and our policy can help us if we walk a fine line in this case. But if we take side, it would be a disaster.

According to China, there were 3 official reasons for the Chinese incursion into Vietnamese. First Vietnam intrusion into the Spratly Island chain claimed by China. At the same time, also claimed by Vietnam. Second reason, was an ongoing issue of the artillery shelling into Chinese territory by Vietnamese army. The third reason was Vietnamese army invasion of Cambodia in late 1978.

In early 1979,Vietnamese army along with Pro-Hanoi Khmer Rouge capture Phnom Pehn and drove the Pro-Chinese Khmer Rouge out of power and retreated into the jungle to regrouped to fight anther day, which lasted over 10 years. The fighting involved pro-Chinese Khmer Rouge against pro-Hanoi Khmer Rouge, then later a few other factions fighting along side pro-Chinese Khmer Rouge to drive out the Vietnamese occupier out of Cambodia. Most of the Vietnamese army elite units were deployed in Cambodia keeping tight grip in its newly occupied territory.

Just a few weeks after Vietnamese army invasion of Cambdia, in February 1979, People Republic of China retaliated at Vietnam. There were large number of Vietnamese forces. The PLA managed to advance close to 40 kilimeters into Vietnam. In early March, 1979 PLA occupied the city of Lang Son. The PLA was getting closer to capturing Hanoi. According to China, they have achieved their punitive mission and quickly withdrew. China strategic aim of changing the situation in Cambodia was not met. In return, China redirect its support toward the pro-Chinese Khmer Rouge who are still fighting their Vietnamese occupier. America has its own score to settle with Vietnam and the Soviet Union, so the American was indirectly giving support to pro-Chinese Khmer Rouge and other Khmer fighting factions. This extra cushion of support by American begin to burden on the Vietnamese army. The number of casualties began to increase. An estimated of 60,000 Vietnamese troops killed. With the looming news of the callapsing of the Soviet Union, Vietnam was looking for a way out of Cambodia. By early 1990, with the involvement of all 5 United Nation Security Councils members, Vietnam, and all Khmer fighting factions came to a ceasefire agreement and begin the process of rebuilding Cambodia.

Prior to all of this, there was a Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Alliance between the Soviet Union and China back in 1948. After 30 years of alliance, Soviet Union and China split. Vietnam was quite confidence of having the backing from the Soviet Union when decided to invade Cambodia. When China invaded Vietnam, China was hoping to expose Soviet Union secret of supporting Vietnam invasion of Cambodia.
