A 14 year-old girl has escaped to live with neigbours in another village after her stepfather, who was infected with AIDS, unsuccessfully attempted to rape her.
Chheng Sreyleak, from Bay Tea village, Svay Torng north commune in Kampong Trolach district of Kampot province, had run away from home in mid May and told neighbours that she is too afraid to return home after her stepfather attempted to rape her. Neighbours said the family was very poor and both her stepfather and mother are alcoholics.
The stepfather denied the girl's allegation after being quizzed by a crowd of villagers. As on 22nd May, the girl was still too afraid to return home and villagers are appealing to NGOs to help provide for this girl because if she returns home she would be raped by her own stepfather.
About at the same time, Koh Santepheap reported that an 11 year-old girl had run away from home to live in the jungle to escape violent beatings by her own father. She lived in the jungle alone with only a tarpaulin tent under heavy rains and survived in the jungle for 20 days without food by just eating watercress/morning glory. She was eventually rescued by Cambodian Women's Crisis Centre who took care of her.

The father is a scumbag. How can you do that to your own daughter? If I live close to this guy, I will beat him up.I can't stand a pervert raping a child. Can't get a real p---y? Freakin jackass!
Drugs is to blamed!...Cambodia is easy place to produce drugs..
The stepfather has to be charged and sentenced for attempted rape. If not, he will try to rape other girls again.
