AKP –Cambodia and France on Apr. 1 reached an agreement for the construction of Phnom Penh’s first-ever tramway to better accommodate increasing population of the capital.
The signing ceremony was officially organized under the auspices of Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Tram Iv Tek and French Secretary of State for Transport H.E. Thierry Mariani.
Though the details of the agreement has not yet been publicized, it is expected that the existence of the tramway will help resolve land travel problem in Phnom Penh in a way that will allow more rooms to economic activities.
The agreement is another step toward closer relationship between Cambodia and France.
According H.E. Tram Iv Tek, France has been contributing to the development of various sectors in Cambodia, to name a few the establishment of public construction laboratory, library and railway technical school. –AKP
