Hun Sen Has Lung Cancer [reliable sources, but unconfirmed]

BREAKING NEWS

Reliable sources in Beijing, Singapore and Phnom Penh indicate that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, a heavy smoker, is suffering from fast-evolving lung cancer.

The information comes from medical, diplomatic and private sources based in the three capital cities.

Hun Sen has been recently seen in hospitals in Singapore and Beijing at a time when there was no announcement of any trip abroad in the prime minister’s schedule.

In the second half of June 2010 Hun Sen disappeared for ten days, which prevented him from receiving UN envoy Surya Subedi, attending a meeting of the Council of Ministers and, more importantly, taking part in the ceremony commemorating the 59th anniversary of the ruling CPP on June 28 in Phnom Penh. The reason clumsily invoked for Hun Sen’s disappearance was “swine flu” but nobody in Cambodia believes in the official explanation. Five other Cabinet members, who had allegedly also caught the strange disease, knew nothing about it.

More recently, Hun Sen was not present in Cambodia when Thai troops started a strong border attack in the vicinity of Preah Vihear temple on February 4, 2011. He precipitously returned home and gave a confused explanation.

Hun Sen’s physical appearance and his way of speaking and gesturing have changed over the last few months.

He seems to be in a hurry to promote his son Hun Manet to a top position, notably in the Army, so as to replace him as the country leader in the near future. Preemptive moves – in the form of arrests of army and police officers belonging to a different clan – have been recently made to prevent any possible resistance to this replacement plan.

Well, advanced lung cancer can kill the sufferers within 3 months. If this rumor is true, then Hun Sen could die very soon. However, even if it is not true, the rumor still can have a very devastating effect on the stability of Mr. Hun Sen's grip on power in Cambodia.

this is stupid news, who the idiot spread negative new about nation leader, idiot you only show your enemy Thai a bige smile. crazy

Mike, I know this is a very bad news for your political idol. His term is coming to an end, literally. This is the result of an evil doer. All the people he killed and brought upon their misery is being handed back to him and his family. I'm not worry about Thailand taking any advantage of this situation. Thailand got their own old king slowly dying as well. When that old man is gone, there will be madness in Thailand. As far as Cambodia, it's a blessing if and when Hun Sen disappear. Hmmmm..who will be the next prime minister of Cambodia, Hun Monet? Just my wild guess.

Hun Sen's demise is near and his political reign of terror is coming to an end. No one can live forever and no one will rule forever. Cancer is untreatable and incurable, therefore if the rumor is true, we could see Hun Sen die in the next 6-7 months. The oppositions and his victims are celebrating, while his supporters and cronies are crying. What goes around, comes around.

Mike at 2:27 PM and 3:44 PM, You have attacked and wished everyday for Sam Rainsy to die, so why you are so mad when people said the same thing about your leader, your idol like the murderer Hun Sen? Rainsy has never killed anyone, yet you wish everyday for him to die, so you should wish everyday for Hun sen to die also because he is an evil man who killed thousands of people and stole million of money and resources from the people and the nation.

As much as I disagree with a lot of things with Hun Sen and the CCP, but I don't wish anybody to have a cancer. It's a very slow suffering. Regardless of your political views, you have to feel sorry for Hun Sen, another human being. If this were true, I hope for a speedy recovery. Thanks and Happy New year. I am worried about Hun Sen's health.
If he died, who is gonna be the ideal leader:
1. Hun Manet? might be the good one since he has a clean hand, but too young.
2. Hun Manna? she does not have a clean hand with her corruption and business thing.
3. All other relatives of Hun Sen has dirty hands.
4. It is said that after Hun Sen, Sok Ann is the first top list, but his behavior or characteristics involves in economy and culture. Manny people might reject, especially other CPP member like Chea Seam counterparts.

It seems that the seat is so difficult to take. If I were one of them, I don't want to take this seat because if you take it, you will become an "evil"...
If you are weak like Human Right party leader and Som Ranksey, there will be resistance.
If you are too strong and cruel like Hun Sen, you will be considered as "evil" prime minister. His had reputation trigger him to create his own armies, then on and on...
If I were Sam RangSey or Human Right Party and win the election, I might do as the follwoing:
1. Will not investigate any corruption or murders before his election victory. Let burry those.
2. Election should be done every 5 years and a person cannot rule the country forever without deadline.
PS: I was very angry with Ranaridht that he take part in rejecting the 5 years-term for prime minister. I hope you all can change it.

Please, enjoy the development of our country rather than those previous leaders (Hun Sen especially Sihanouk..etc.) that fight with each other until our country become a sandwich between the two bad countries.

Our country needs the stability to recover and develop,Hun Sen had contributed most part of this basic need for quite a while. I am also pleased with his East/West ideology handling. We need both China and US as our friends, no need to alienate one or the other.
Corruption is still a major concerns for all of us and it will not go away so easily as long as our economy is weak and the basic institution like public pension is not strong or not even exist.
My most concern about our country fate is our military. If our forces are united and not split unto many factions,to back this or that political parties then we have much hope for the future. That is why I personally see the current monarch as a good source and galvanize point for our military.
Who will be the ideal next leader for our country.
First I took this news of the decline health of Hun Sen very cautiously.
After I read one anonymous posted his voice decried Thailand as a cancerous state of the
World United Nations, then the lung cancer news of Hun Sen emerged,I saw some odd pattern there. Hun Sen needs to stop smoking for sure.
I need to sit back do some research of how many Khmers hold Ph.D and from where. In the mean time Hun Manet needs to concentrate on his work, upheld his so far good conduct and take away all the cigarette lighters from his father.

No one wants to see another human being suffer a debilitating diseases like cancer. But, I bet that a lot of Cambodians want Hun Sen out of power. It would be a tragedy to launch a revolution against him because the country will be destroyed and many people will die. So, people will be happy to see him go in a peaceful way, including dying of old age and diseases. Providing stability through an iron-fisted rule like Hun Sen has not provided much progress to Cambodia and benefits to the people. Stability can be done in a democratic ways, through elections, as in other western countries. Also, no one will cause instability, only Hun Sen because since he lost the 1993 and 1998 elections (he cheated to win), he had killed and threatened many people with arrests and murders. As such, this has caused anger from people and caused Hun Sen to be paranoid of revenge. If Hun Sen accepted the 1993 election peacefully, Cambodia would be very peaceful and more prosperous than now.

Nobody including Hun Sen is indispensable in this world, stop falling into the trap that without Hun Sen, Cambodia would go down the drain and have civil disturbance! Nobody in his sane mind would ever buy that crap.

Now another technicality: if Hun Sen does have cancer --whether lung or throat due to his heavy smoking--, then he would have to go for chimotherapy which means he would have lost hair due to such treatment, but we ain't see the man lose any hair at all since last year. So how true is such "unconfirmed" report?

To bring about better governance, indeed the post of PM should be limited to 2 terms maximum to encourage renewal and bring new blood into this high office. Only dictatorialship would be dead against such proposal...

It is not good to show the national leader's health as Thailand is invading Cambodia. Please Do not spread it out. Professionalism never show secret of national security. He is the most our respectful leader.

Cambodia has been through so much pain since the war in the 70's. Have you seen or been to Cambodia lately? I just came back from there and all I can say is that it is wonderful. The economy, education, stability, safety of tourists and all the Khmers I have spoken to are all very happy with the progress of their nation. The main topic was that it was due to the CPP and the PM Hun Sen who has the ability to provide the people with jobs, stability and economic growth. Where else in SE you can see this happening? Laos- No, Vietnam - still socialist, Burma - military state?? So Cambodia has come along way from the war and now shines like a gem. I am happy for the people of Cambodia and I wish all you people stop talking rubbish about the current government and PM. If you think you can manage such a difficult nation coming out of a long drawn war - go there and do something about it. Or shut up and let the people and government do their jobs to rebuild their nation.

This stupid rumors should stop, if you are truly Khmer and want to see Cambodia stay in Khmer hands - all rumors about the head of state (PM/King) should STOP. All this is allowing the Thais to take advantage of the take over of Cambodia. If PM Hun Sen does step down, who else do you have to stand up against Thailand?? Sam Ramsey??? What can Sam Ramsey do to protect Cambodia? Nothing. So why the hell are you stirring trouble for Cambodia in a time where Thailand will take over Cambodia. Stupid people. I think you should go to a cave and live there. Grow up and stop wasting everyones time with your bullshit talk about the PM has cancer.

Cambodia would be a lot better off without HUN SEN and his criminal and corrupt group. No-one is indispensable, muchless the Hun Sen and other Vietnamese slaves, traitors to CAMBODIA. A new democrat, real defenser of Cambodia from both Thailand and Vietnam is needed for Cambodia.

Nothing and nobody could create instability in Cambodia besides HUN SEN himself, if ever he loose power. Cancer could be an answer to the heavy-smoking, criminal and arrogant PM.
