The spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Minister, Mr. Koy Kuong (pictured), has strongly reacted to the claims by the Thai military spokesman that Cambodia is plotting to seize Ta Krabey and Ta Moan temples like Cambodia had seized the 4.6sq. kilometres of land near Preah Vihear temple.
The 4.6sq. kilometres of land near Preah Vihear temple were seized by Thai troops on 15th July 2008, one week after Preah Vihear temple was inscribed by Unesco as a world heritage site. A few weeks later Thai troops forcibly seized Ta Krabey and Ta Moan temples, but later Thai troops withdrew from the areas. Since then, several deadly clashes had resulted in more than 20 deaths from both sides.
The Bangkok Post quoted the Thai army spokesman Col. Sansern Kaewkamnerd as saying that if Thai troops did not confront Cambodian troops they would have seized the temples. "If we had not warned them before the confrontation, Cambodia would have seized the area as they did in the areas near Preah Vihear temple," he was quoted by the Bangkok Post as saying.
Mr. Koy Kuong said the temples are Cambodian temples and therefore Cambodia will defend them at all cost. "The two temples are Cambodian temples. Cambodia will defend them to the best ability from the invasion by Thai troops", he said.
He said that the temples are located inside Cambodian territory according to the treaty map commissioned and agreed by Thailand and France, the Cambodian colonial master, in 1907 which was used by the International Court of Justice to award the ownership of Preah Vihear temple to Cambodia in 1962. "We depend on the Dangrek Map that was included in the annex of the International Court of Justice's 1962 verdict. Even the map that was unilaterally drawn by Thailand itself has shown that the two temples are located inside the sovereignty of Cambodia. Cambodia is not seizing, but just defending its patrimony", he said.

Thais are the master of spin, twisting story and lying. They are Cambodian temples and the so-called 4.6km2 is a Cambodian territory, invaded by Thai troops in 2008. Thailand does not want outside involvements because it is the aggressor. It does not want to front the international court because Thailand has no legal basis to claim the land and the temples. Thief will always be thief!
