Bayon TV anchorman and publisher of Deum Ampil newspaper, Mr. Soy Sopheap, (pictured), has been summoned to appear before the court on 30th March to answer Mr. Son Soubert's lawsuit stemming from his TV commentary which accused Son Soubert's father, former Prime Minister Son Sann and leader of the rersistance movement in the 1980s, of selling Preah Vihear land to Thailand.
On 4th February, Soy Sopheap had made an accusation on Bayon TV that Mr. Son Sann and Khmer Rouge nominal leader Khieu Samphan had signed to give up a parcel of land near Preah Vihear temple to Thailand in 1991. Mr. Son Soubert said his late father had never signed any agreement to give lands to Thailand and has asked Mr. Soy Sopheap to apologise.
Mr. Kuoy Bunna, lawyer for Mr. soy Sopheap, said his client and Mr. Son Soubert had already made a compromise and settled their differences once before regarding the case.
