Prime Minister Hun Sen has banned Thai soldiers from coming to visit or pray at Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak pagoda, which was significantly damaged by Thai artillery shells during the armed clashes from 4-7 February.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony at the Royal University of Law and Economics on Monday, Mr. Hun Sen said he will not allow Thai troops to come and pray at the pagoda again because they have deliberately shelled the pagoda in an attempt to destroy it during the fighting. "You want to take Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak pagoda? Sorry, not only you want to take it, but even if you want to come and pray at the pagoda, I will not allow it because you have shelled the pagoda and broke all the Budhha images/statues in the pagoda already", he said.

He again called on Indonesia to send Indonesian observers to the disputed zone as soon as possible, even if Thailand did not respond to Indonesia's term of reference yet. Cambodia has accepted Indonesia's proposal of a meeting between Cambodian and Thai ministers of defence in Bogor in Indonesia on 24-25 March, but Thailand is non-committal. Prime Minister Hun Sen said he is strongly opposed to any bilateral meetings with Thailand, saying many agreements in bilateral meetings with Thailand in the past 3 years had not been followed through by Thailand because the Thai parliament delayed the ratification of the agreements indefinitely. He said all future talks with Thailand must be participated by a third party and all agreements must be signed and witnessed by a third party also.

Mr. Hun Sen he is also praised the hard efforts of Cambodian and Thai troops deployed in the disputed zone for having established good relations and were playing volleyball together many times already.
