Phnom Penh builds another satellite city at Prek Leap

The Cambodian government has approved an application from OEIC Co. Ltd., owned by tycoon Pung Kheav Se, the owner of Canadia Bank and the developer of Koh Pich Island, to build a satellite city at Prek Leap.

According to the Phnom Penh Municipality website, on the morning of 17th March, a master plan of the Prek Leap satellite was unveiled by Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema for the construction of the 387-hectare new satellite city at Prek Leap. The website said the 387-hectare Prek Leap satellite city will be divided into four parts: a public park which will cover 60 hectares of the city, a multi-purpose national stadium which will cover 40 hectares, the Asean plus 3 section covering 45 hectares which will be used for future meetings of the Asean+3 and another 162 hectares will be used for housing, commercial, banking, school and entertainment complex.

Currently, Phnom Penh has a few satellite cities already, including Camko City, Phnom Penh Grand International City and Koh Pich Island Satellite City. Shortly, Chroy Changvar and Prek Leap Satellite cities will be constructed.
