Cambodia, [North Korea] DPRK defense officials meet to share experience

Mr. Pak Jae-gyong (L) shakes hand with Prime Minister Hun Sen.

PHNOM PENH, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) defense officials met here on Monday aiming to strengthen cooperation and share experience on national defense, said a Cambodian spokesman.

A nine defense officials delegation from the DPRK, headed by Pak Jae-gyong, vice minister of the People's Armed Forces of the DPRK, held a meeting with Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Banh on Monday afternoon, Chhum Socheat, the spokesman for the Cambodian Defense Ministry, said after the meeting.

"The delegation's visit in Cambodia is to re-strengthen cooperation between Cambodia and the DPRK in all sectors," he said. "Also, both sides have shared experience on national defense."

Later in the day, the delegation met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Pak Jae-gyong conveyed greetings from President Kim Jong-il to Hun Sen and thanked Cambodia for the warm welcome to his delegation during the visit, the premier's spokesman Eng Sophalleth told reporters after a 30-minute meeting.

Pak said the relation between the DPRK and Cambodia has been built by Marshall Kim Il Sung and former King Norodom Sihanouk and it has lasted for more than 40 years since.

Pak Jae-gyong also invited Hun Sen to visit the DPRK.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen said Cambodia is pleased to expand cooperation with the DPRK in all sectors, especially in trades and commerce, according to Eang Sophalleth.

Hun Sen accepted the invitation to visit the DPRK at a proper time in the future.

The delegation arrived in Cambodia on Sunday for a three day visit. They will also visit engineering schools for Cambodian armed forces.

You hit my idea! If DPRK let us test any of its missiles, then fruitful outcome will go to both sides.

4:47 PM, how could you blame North Korea of closing it door to the world !? Didn't you read that its leader just invite Khmer PM to visit Pyongyang? May be in your eye Cambodia is not part of the world community or not count as a country worthy to befriend with. How arrogant of you is that? But wait,I know you love Cambodia and you did not belittle Khmer kingdom as I try to paint you. It's just my practical way of telling you that it's very hurtful to North Koreans feeling when you accuse unjustly their beloved nation. What you have done is just trying to isolate one nation from the other. You should be ashamed of that. As for myself,I would not hesitate to encourage my Khmer youths to go and learn from North Korea how to develop military program that can be useful to defend our country.

DPRK come to cambodia they have one thing in mind (to see first hand if cambodia need any military hardwares why they strictly defense officials only ).
you talking about the country that manufactures long range missiles here "it not what you know BUT WHO YOU KNOW " now cambodia known the right man.
few semi atomic bombs on loan or few years will do.

7:17 PM, I think Cambodia's leaders are wooing North Korea because they can get cheap weapons. N. Korea is poor, but it has weapons for sales and it needs money. Cambodia wants weapons so I think this visit is to negotiate to buy cheap but modern N. Korean weapons.

I wish Cambodia would receive some modern weapons from NK so as to ensure her territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
