Prince Ranariddh addressed the 127 Funcinpec defectors.

Prince Norodom Ranariddh, president of the eponymous Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) has on Saturday morning, 12th March, presided over the defections of 127 Funcinpec Party members in three districts in Kampong Cham province.
Mr. Chan Boribo, spokesman for the NRP, said Prince Ranariddh had presided over the defections of 127 former Funcinpec members with 40 coming from Chamkar Leu district, 45 from Stung Trong district and 42 from Prey Chhor district of Kampong Cham province. He said during his speech in the ceremony, the prince thanked those defectors for their loyalty and for having faith in him.
Funcinpec spokesman, Mr. Tum Sombol, however, denied the reports, saying that it is an exaggeration aiming to cause division within the Funcinpec Party.
In recent months there are reports of Funcinpec internal split, with many steering committee members wanting to defect to the NRP after they found out that party Secretary General Nhiek Bunchhay had mismanaged and embezzled party funds. Two days ago, RFA has reported that Funcinpec is facing a major internal political crisis within the party.
