A meeting of the Mixed Cambodian-Vietnamese Boundary Commission decided during its meeting in Cambodia from 23-26 February that the two countries plan to plant 100 border posts along the two countries' border in 2011.
The meeting of the Mixed Cambodian-Vietnamese Boundary Commission was held at the headquarter of the Council of Ministers. The Cambodian side was led by Cambodian Border Commission chairman Var Kim Hong and the Vietnamese side was led by Mr. Ho Quan Son, who is Deputy Foreign Minister and chairman of the Vietnamese Border Commission.
The agenda of the meeting include discussion of the outcomes of the GPS boundary survey conducted by the mixed technical team of both countries which have been agreed by both sides at the meeting.
The meeting also discussed about the planting of border posts at international border checkpoints between the two countries, such as at Phnom Den-Tinh Bien in Cambodia's Takeo province and in Vietnam's An Giang province (border post No. 275), the planting of border post No. 30 at Andong Pich-Le Thanh in Cambodia's Rattanakiri and Vietnam's Gia Lai province and position the location of border post No. 314 in Cambodia's Kampot province and Vietnam's Kien Gang province.
The most important agenda was the planting of 100 border posts along the 500 km borders as well as producing a topographic map of that border area. The other agenda is to send an inspection team to inspect border post Nos. 241 to 245 in Cambodia's Kandal province and Vietnam's An Giang province.

While Cambodia is busy fighting with Thailand, Vietnam is trying to take advantage by trying to fast-track the border demarcations because it can chip away a few km here and there and Cambodia won't dare to protest.
