Hundreds of Thai villagers living along the border in Sakeo province have clashed with Thai yellow shirts protesters after they tried to stop the yellow shirts from crossing into Cambodian territory at 1 p.m on Wednesday 5th January.

The report said that the Thai villagers stopped the yellow shirts at Ang Sila village from reaching Kork Tyoung (Khok Soung in Thai) village near border post No. 46.

The scuffle only stopped when Thai troops arrived to intervene and at 4 p.m, Thai troops agreed to let 7 yellow shirts protesters through the picket line to inspect border No. 46. The group was accompanied by Sakeo governor Mr. Sanit Natsooksri and Gen. Walit, Deputy Commander of the Thai Army. The group cordially shook hands with Cambodian officials and border guards before returning back to Thailand.

They were protesting against the arrests of the 7 Thai trespassers by Cambodian troops.

This is another Preah Vihear incident repeated. In 2008, 3 Thais jumped the fence into Cambodian territory on 15th July and got themselves arrested by Cambodian troops. The Thais used it as an excuse to invade Cambodian territory and sent Thai troops to rescue them that triggered border and diplomatic disputes till today. Two and a half years later, they have not withdrawn yet. This time, Cambodia must be firm. If they crossed, we must shoot them like what Thai troops did to Cambodian civilians. More than 30 Cambodians were killed this way by Thai troops along the borders.

...Yellow-shirt activist and senator Kamnoon Sithisaman said areas near the disputed boundary belonged to Thai people, as the Thai authorities had issued land titles to them long ago. The area was indeed used as a shelter for Cambodian refugees in 1975, but has not been returned to the rightful Thai owners since, he said...

This claim is so quite similar to the Cambodian Oppositions accusing Vietnam of taking Cambodian farmers' land in Svay Riang province.

Why we do not let map experts and technicians deal with the boundary issues? The main thing is map use.
