Second of the list were South Korean tourists with 289,702 Koreans had visited Cambodia last year. China ranked third and Japan ranked fourth in tourist arrivals to Cambodia.

Most Vietnamese tourists arrived by buses through Bavet International Checkpoint in Svay Rieng province, where about 1,000 tourists have crossed the gate everyday.

Mr. Khouy Kry, chief of Bavet International Checkpoint, said everyday there are between 1,200-1,300 international tourists crossing through the checkpoint. Among them, there are about 700-800 Vietnamese tourists.

Recently, the two countries have opened many more border crossings in Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces and the Cambodian government has granted 205 licences to 32 tansport companies, many of them are tourism operators, to transport tourists across the border of the two countries. These companies will have 85 buses and coaches for transporting tourists.
