Hun Sen met new Australian and Swedish ambassadors

Prime Minister met the new Australian ambassador, Mrs. Penelope Ann Richards, and the new Swedish ambassador, Mrs. Anne Hoglond, at the government house on today morning, the 11th January 2011.

Mrs. Anne Hogland is the first Swedish ambassador to Cambodia after Sweden upgraded its diplomatic mission to an ambassadorial level. During the meeting, Mr. Hun Sen thanked Sweden for its support of his regime in the 1980s at a time when the world turned their back on his regime to support the resistance movement.

At the same time, the PM had also met with the new Australian ambassador, Mr. Penelope Anne Richards. He also thanked Australia for its supports of Cambodia since 1982 and its peace efforts which helped brought peace and national reconciliation to Cambodia in 1991.

Mrs. Richards replaced Mrs. Margaret Adamson as Australian ambassador to Cambodia, whose term has just expired.
