Chairman of Cambodian Border Commission Mr. Var Kimhong has threatened to take legal actions against members of the civil society and opposition parties who have disturbed the demarcation works between Cambodia and Vietnam.
The warning came after Mr. Rong Chhun, chairman of Cambodian Watchdog Council, announced that he will lead a delegation to visit border post No. 109 in Memot district in Kampong Cham province on 24th November after 222 villagers petitioned the government that border posts in the areas have been planted inside their lands. Mr. Var Kimhong only admitted that just 5 square metres of one villager's land was affected by the demarcations and he warned Mr. Rong Chhun and his delegation not to visit the site, saying that the government will take actions against him if he went ahead with his planned visit. "If they do not listen to us, then we have no choice other than to use the court to defend the government's position. This is not a country without any laws. Don't disturb them (the border demarcators) and what expertise does Mr. Rong Chhun have?", he said.
Mr. Rong Chhun said the government should not be concerned about his visit if it has nothing to hide. "If the government blocked our visit to inspect the border, it means that there are irregularities with the border demarcation works", he said.
Mr. Mao Monivann, member of parliament from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP), echoed Mr. Rong Chhun's sentiment, saying the government should not prohibit any visits to inspect border post No. 109 if it did not affect villagers' lands. "He (Var Kimhong) has responded to the villagers and has also threatened members of the civil society. If (the demarcation works) are done in transparency and our territories have not been lost then the people, civil society and members of parliament must be allowed to visit the site publicly", he said.
Mr. Var Kimhong said border demarcation is the government's responsibility and not the duty of members the civil society and the opposition parties. He said he will order local authority to deploy security forces around the spot in question to prevent members of the civil society and opposition parties from visiting it.

Thieft of the nation AH SVA KIM HONG!
You should threat legal actions in the international court of justice agaist the Viet YOU IDIOT. Just a few years ago, your people know nothing about the judicial process, your people only used the "Jungle Laws", but now you're all experts.
This is the comment of a traitor. Instead of allowing people to defend Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Var Kimhong instead tried to stop them and threatnened them with legal actions. Rong Chhun and SRP are trying to protect Khmer lands and if Var Kimhong has done the right things and has nothing to hide then he should not try to stop these people from visiting the alleged encroached sites. The villagers are crying out for help, so it means the areas have probably been encroached. Instead of denying everything, Var Kimhong should launch an open and transparent investigation where everyone are allowed to see the areas for themselves.
This is a typical reaction between the Cambodian government toward Cambodian who speaking out and seeking justice for their land that has been relentless encroached by Vietnam thief. It is very obvious who is controlling Cambodian governments. Hanoi is reaping the profits from the early days of positioning those Cambodian government officials who wouldn't mind becoming Youn(Vietnamese) if the benefit is right. Those corrupted Cambodian government officials are Hanoi's Trojan Horse.
I must say, Hanoi, Vietnam is very clever. To steal
something doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it
youself, let someone do the stealing for you. If Hanoi
wanted some territory from Cambodia, don't be obvious
and go grab it, just tell Var Kimhong to it.
