Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen will hold talks with his Thai counterpart, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, on the sideline of The Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit to be held in Phnom Penh from 16th-17th November, which is summit of the leaders from Cambodia, Burma, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.

Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, said the two leaders will hold talks at the last day of the summit. He refused to elaborate on the topics of discussions between the two leaders, except to say that they will hold talks on a wide range of topics, including bilateral trades, tourism and investments between the two countries. He said he is not sure whether the border issues between the two countries will be raised during the closed-door meeting.

The ACMECS Summit will bring together the prime ministers of Vietnam, Thailand, Burma and Laos to Cambodia. Mr. Koy Kuong said during the summit, the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, will sign a series of agreements, including banking, investment and trade agreements, with Prime Minister Hun sen.
Mr. Nguyen tan Dung is scheduled to have an audience with King Sihamoni, meet with Senate President Chea Sim and Chairman of the National Assembly Heng Samrin during his stay in Cambodia.

As usual, like the previous meetings, this one is a waste of time because Hun Sen is too afraid to raise the most importance issue: The Thai withdrawal from the Preah Vihear areas occupied by Thai troops in 2008. I have a feeling that this issue will soon be forgotten because the Thai will never agree to withdraw unless Cambodia forces them to do so like by force, diplomacy or lawsuit. If Cambodia and Hun Sen is so soft like now, Thailand will never agree to withdraw its troops and they will stay in Cambodian territory forever.
